Guarantee
A Peterson pipe requires no special “breaking-in” treatment, yet every Peterson pipe is guaranteed for 90 days from date of purchase against defects in materials or workmanship, provided the pipe has been given normal treatment.

Please note that our pipes carry a 90 day guarantee from date of purchase, this guarantee covers only one replacement, provided that reasonable care has been taken. The “life” of a pipe can vary significantly and as it is made from a natural product there is no guarantee that it will last forever – although the vast majority have a lifespan substantially greater that other consumer products.

The guarantee does not cover (i) bowls cracked by over carbonizing, (ii) bowls worn thin by constant scraping, (iii) pipes that split at the junction of the bowl and stem (such breakages are usually accidental) and (iv) mouthpieces – these can be replaced at a nominal charge

Once we are receipt of the pipe an acknowledgement email will be sent to the customer informing the safe arrival of the pipe in question. A follow up email will be then sent once the pipe is ready to ship.

Mouthpiece discoloured
Black Vulcanite (Rubber) Mouthpieces. It may be some time since the mouthpiece was manufactured and that it may have been on display and exposed to sunlight for a long period. If this is the case, the mouthpiece will have discoloured which will give a nasty taste. This problem can be solved in minutes by having the mouthpiece buffed at your local pipe repair shop. Alternatively, you can return the pipe to us and we will be pleased to return it to you in first class condition.

Filters
If you click on the Classic Shape Chart, you will that the pipes marked with * are suitable for filters. However, filters are usually fitted at the request of our distributors and therefore availability will vary from country to country – the pipe needs to be “adapted” at the time of manufacture.

What is the Peterson “System"
The Peterson System is the standard bearer of the Peterson pipe family, famous for the unexcelled smoking pleasure it provides.

Often imitated but never equalled, the Peterson System smokes dry, cool and sweet, thanks to the scientific effectiveness of the original design. The heart of the System is the unique graduated bore in the mouthpiece. This makes the suction applied by the smoker 15 times weaker by the time it reaches the tobacco chamber. The result is that all the moisture flows into the reservoir and, thus cannot reach the smoker's mouth.

The Peterson Lip further enhances the effectiveness of the graduated bore by directing the flow of smoke upwards and away from the tongue. This achieves a uniquely even distribution of smoke and virtually eliminates and chance of tongue-bite or bitterness.

Furthermore, the shape is scientifically contoured so that the tongue rests comfortably in the depression under the opening. Each "P-Lip" mouthpiece is made from superior quality vulcanite.

What is BRIARWOOD - What are FILLS
By way of explanation, briar pipes are manufactured from a natural material called briarwood "the briar root of the Erica Arboria" which grows in the Mediterranean region.

The fills are used to mask the natural characteristics of the briarwood caused by grit and stones etc. when the root is forming under the soil. We “fill” the void caused by the grit or stone and this generally blends well with the various stains that we use to finish the pipe.

Smokers Guild Magazine
We now have approximately 7,000 members of the Peterson Smoker’s Guild worldwide and the magazine would be too costly to produce in printed format. We hope to be in a position soon where we will send quarterly EZines to keep all our members informed about new products.

Dating Pipes
It is only possible to date a pipe by reading the Hallmarks – therefore if a pipe is not mounted with Silver or Gold – we cannot tell you when it was manufactured.

Symbols of Ireland
A Shamrock, An Irish Wolfhound and A Round Tower – if these marks are on the band of your pipe – it is Nickel Mounted – not Silver Mounted.
